Download "release"

The current openthinclient-1.0.0 downloadable release should work on any WINDOWS/LINUX/UNIX/POSIX operating systems with Oracle Java 6 installed. If the stated link does take forever you can download this release here as well. A Oracle Java 6 (JRE or SDK) is available here.

Quick Install

You can start the shiny new installer by double clicking the jar file or executing the following command line as administrator or root user:

Before you do that please have at least a glimpse at the Prerequisites and openThinClient manager pages before installation.


Don't be alarmed by some funny software characteristics: This early open source release still includes some known issues and bugs of a more or less serious kind ;-). Have a look at the issue tracker where all open bugs are listed and a road map is available.

Quick Start

The new quick start guide is intended to combine the installation and configuration so you can boot a thinclient for intial testing right away.

Download Virtual Machine

Running a virtualisation platform and want to test right away?
Download our openthinclient virtual appliance.

It is designed to run on several virtualization platforms like VirtualBox or VMware vSphere/ESX/Server/Workstation. For more information have a look at the release announcement. Here are some screenshots of the runnnig machine.

The necessary login you can find here:

Note: Please don't forget to change your password to protect your system.

The root password isn't set. You can create your own pass with $ sudo passwd root.
